About Cocoon Coaching
Coaching gives us space to work in a way that can actually adapt to you; how you move through the world. It’s also a way for me to practically work with people outside of California or those who move frequently, offering continuity and flexibility beyond what I’m able to provide in my therapy work.
I come to this work with a background as a social worker, and in my clinical experience I’ve worked with people across all ages and backgrounds. Coaching allows for a different kind of relationship than therapy: one that draws from that foundation but can move in a more fluid, balanced, relational way, individualized to you without any need for diagnosis or pathology.
A big part of how I see people is through systems theory and queer theory – meaning we’re not just looking at you in isolation, but also at the larger systems, environments, and narratives that shape your experience. At the same time, I hold you as a unique individual with your own way of making meaning and moving through life.
While this is not therapy, my therapeutic background has focused on neurodiverse populations, including ADHD, Autism, people with disabilities of all kinds, and other sensory processing differences. I’ve supported individuals experiencing RSD (Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria), depression, anxiety, OCD, eating disorders, and more. My work is inclusive of and informed by LGBTQIA+ experiences, while remaining open to anyone who resonates with this approach.
The work I do is grounded in a trauma-informed, holistic, and strengths-based lens, always. I believe deeply in somatic work – that the body holds a lot of what we’ve been through, and that real change often involves more than just thinking differently.
Over time, I kept coming back to three things that really guide my work:
Emotional Regulation
Connection
Self Compassion
I also see shame and guilt as core drivers of many patterns, including addiction. I have said it may be the most destructive of emotions; I have also indicated it as the catalyst for change and the key to recovery.
I’ve seen that shifting patterns including addictive cycles, cycles of self-harm, and ways of coping that no longer serve you is not about forcing change, as to echo a shame voice. It’s about building compassion and acceptance practices into daily life in a way that feels real and sustainable by you and for you.
I am not above you or outside of your experience; you will always be the expert to your own. I’m another human, sitting with you in flaws, discomfort, and unknowns grateful to offer a space where you can feel seen, heard, accepted, and witnessed as you allow your transformation for what’s next in your life.
Trust your timing.
With gratitude, Sophie Conant
